We stayed at L'Antic Espai from 1 Feb 2007 until 5 Feb 2007, for my wife's birthday. We checked it out on Tripadvisor, and booked through the Hostal website. It is a lovely place. We had room 107, which had a bedroom, shower room, little sitting area and access to the terrace. The terrace is furnished with wrought iron chairs and a Lloyd loom double chair. There are two patio heaters and lots of plants and candles. It is so romantic, and fine to sit out on in Winter. Sergio and Abel have obviously furnished the place with care and attention to detail. The furniture, and all ornaments evoke fin de siecle, 1890 to 1910 period Spain, and our bedroom suite had lovely marquetry in the headboard. The tiled floors are wonderful. There is so much attention to detail in this hotel (actually a "hostal", though I don't know the difference). The two proprietors could not have been kinder. We were made to feel very welcome. The Hostal's situation was within 10 minutes of the top of the Ramblas, and the prices were keen. My only minor criticisms were the narrowness of the shower stall, and the Hostal is on the first floor, up some steps, so would not suit someone in a wheelchair. Apart from that, however, I would heartily recommend the place, and would go so far as to say that it is probably unbeatable in it's price range. Ian and Liz Rispin. Wolverhampton.
