KervanSaray Ocakbasi Restaurant is located about 1km outside of Dalyan center next to the Mehtap hotel. As we stayed in the Mehatap we dined here on a couple of occasions and if it was not good the first time we would not have returned for a second time.
The restaurant is only open during the holiday season and the tables are all alfresco, but a large section does have a roof covering them. The restaurant has a wood burning oven in the dining area and you can watch the chef preparing the bread and cooking some of the meals in clay pots. A large barbecue is also located in the dining area and you can see the steaks, fish and kebabs being cooked.
The staff were well dressed in shirt and tie, very polite and helpful and if you wanted to know about anything on the menu they would tell you or find out from the chef if they did not know.
A good selection of Turkish wine is on offer, and for the better quality wine expect to pay about £15-£20 as the cheaper £10-£15 is not that nice. This is about the average price for wine in Turkey.
The menu is extensive with with a good choice of Turkish and international cuisine. Hot and cold starters, main courses with meat, fish and vegetarian dishes and if you still have room sweets.
Not only do you get the food you ordered but they also bring food compliments of the chef, this includes hot lava bread which is delicious with the garlic butter and grapes, melon and orange after you finish your meal.
We ordered aubergine salad which is more of a spread for putting on bread than a salad, but it is very tasty, not sure what my main meal was called but it was pitta bread with a spicy meat, yogurt and salad and it was better than any kebab I have tasted in England, my wife had the clay pot casserole which was also very nice.
This is a very nice restaurant with friendly staff great food and for it's location out of town it was very busy and that speaks for it's self.
