[más]Lessman's Farm near Topeka is known primarily for its catfish pond and as the location of Truckhenge, a folk-art monument constructed of a series of antique trucks and an old bus. The vehicles are embedded in concrete and partially buried at angles to the horizontal. Each is painted with quotations from Lessman. The attraction was created after a legal action ordering Lessman to "pick up" the collection of vehicles on his property. Rather than dispose of the trucks, he arranged them into Truckhenge. In 2005, the attraction was designated by the Association of Shawnee County Recycling and Preservation as part of the Kaw Region Art Park. The park (and the farm) also includes a number of sculptures known collectively as Beer Bottle City. Truckhenge, Beer Bottle City, and the catfish pond are all located on private property, and visitors should call ahead to arrange permission for access. The farm is also the site of organized events for which admission is charged.
